My 48 Hour Film Challenge film The Adventures of Spectacularman is finally
online. You can download it for free at NZ Shortfilm.com.
We got into the finals and it has lots of the same cast and crew from Futile
Attraction. If you watch it, please rate it as well. The higher a vote
rating it gets, the more people will download it and watch it.
For the last few weeks I’ve been concentrating on my next film Blackwood
Cabin. We are in advanced development with Headstrong, the company that has
the contract from the New Zealand Film Commission to produce 4 digital
features. They gave us a bit of money to cast it and workshop some scenes. We did
the workshop a week ago and it was a blast. I’m really pleased with the results
and it is now just a waiting game to see if the film commission like what they
see and give us the money. Fingers crossed…
Ever since the premiere Telecom have really got behind Futile Attraction
(because of their sponsorship through xtra of this site). They invited me and
Johnny to the opening of the Auckland Film Festival (of which they are the
primary sponsor) which was great fun. Theresa Gattung, CEO of Telecom mentioned
Futile Attraction and www.makemarksmovie.com in her speech opening the festival,
even though we weren’t in the festival, which was kinda funny.
Things were even cooler last week though when they flew me to Wellington to
speak at a corporate function. They had a private invitation only screening of Broken
Flowers as part of the film festival. Theresa again spoke, introduced me
and Futile Attraction, I spoke for a few minutes then they screened the
trailer for Futile Attraction followed by Broken Flowers. They
put me up in a 5 star hotel which was a first for me.
As a direct result of this trip someone in the Upper Hutt City Council wants
to organise a special screening of Futile Attraction in Upper Hutt and
National Radio have approached me for another interview, this time for their
Digital Life show.
